Plot: Twenty-eight cast members from past seasons of The Real World, Road Rules, and Fresh Meat Challenge are in for an exciting new competition in the eighteenth season of The RealWorld/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins.
The Real World/Road Rules Challenge began as a competition between former Real World cast members and former Road Rules cast members. They participate in a series of challenges and compete for money and/or various other prizes. The challenge has changed over the seasons, but the goal has always remained the same?make it to the end for a huge cash prize!
This season, contestants find themselves in beautiful Thailand competing on one of two teams: Champions, comprised of former challenge winners, and Challengers, comprised of former challenge losers plus newcomers. Before every weekly challenge, players nominate three men and three women from their own team as possible participants in the head-to-head elimination battle known as The Ruins. The weekly challenge winners split $20,000 between themselves, and the winning six nominees decide who will face off in The Ruins. Each Ruins competition will have two battles, one male and one female. The winner of each face-off not only stays in the game, but also wins any money his or her opponent made thus far in the game. The loser goes home with nothing.
